Hello, my name is Debbie Ford and I'm an English artist, currently based in the South Yorkshire city of Sheffield, where I live with my husband and two dogs: Pepper and Tess. I remember drawing from an early age and was encouraged by my parents. After leaving school though, I took a totally non art-related career path which lasted 18 years.

I pursued more active hobbies including hillwalking in some of the most beautiful places in Britain, mountain biking and photography but rediscovered art again in 2004. My first medium of choice, watercolour, was totally unsuccessful and I soon picked up a pencil again - a medium I have always favoured for its ability to give the artist infinite control.

My style is to be as realistic as possible and I try to capture some of the animal's unique spirit in each drawing I do. I know that any artist continually develops throughout their lifetime and I am just glad I 'found' art again.
